MDC-T leader Mr Morgan Tsvangirai is a threat to us thugs rather than a political one and we are justified to participate in politics to defend our stolen loot, Brigadier-General Douglas Nyikayaramba has said.

\r\n

Responding to calls by Mr Tsvangirai at a rally in Mkoba, Gweru, on Sunday that security chiefs should resign and contest for political power, Brig-Gen Nyikayaramba, said the current situation required that “we stay in uniform and protect our personal financial gains that we have looted from the nation of Zimbabwe since independence.

\r\n

“What he (Mr Tsvangirai) is saying is 100% correct. He is right, we are dealing with a national security threat, which can only be dealt with by responsible people in uniform, not foolish boot-licking brigadier generals like me. If this was a normal political environment, one would hope to retire at some point and join politics. However, we can’t afford to be in an akimbo when we have stolen so much, raped so many and killed our own people on the altar of insatiable greed,” Brig-Gen Nyikayaramba said.

\r\n

He said the hierarchy of security forces and Zanu-PF were inseparable because both are guilty of grand theft and crimes against humanity.

\r\n

Brig-Gen Nyikayaramba said generals in the security forces viewed Mr Tsvangirai as a national threat to the current murderous dictatorship and that Tsvangirai was about to expose them.

\r\n

For this reason, he reiterated that he would never be able to serve under the leadership of anyone who did not have liberation war credentials because they would all be facing trial at The Hague for crimes against humanity.

\r\n

Brig-Gen Nyikayaramba said a minority in the security forces would do anything possible to make sure President Mugabe remained in power until they felt this personal threat to their looted assets and abuses was over.

\r\n

“Tsvangirai doesn’t pose a political threat in any way in Zimbabwe, but is a major security threat to us thieves and killers. He takes instructions and mandate from the people of Zimbabwe who seek to effect regime change in Zimbabwe as soon as possible.

\r\n

“This is what has invited us thugs and killers to be involved because we want to ensure we protect our stolen assets and hide our human rights abuses. When he said Mugabe must go peacefully or else forcefully, was that democratic or constitutional? Yes it was because Tsvangirai has the mandate of the people and doesn’t rig elections.

\r\n

“Daydreamers who think they can continue to hide their abuses of power will continue daydreaming. They can go to hell . . . they will be brought to account and have to face the people of this country.

\r\n

“We are trying to keep the silence about our atrocities. We will continue to hide the abuses, we will not sit back and watch things going wrong,” Brig-Gen Nyikayaramba said.

\r\n

He said MDC-T was home-grown and that Zanu PF has lost the peoples’ mandate and all Zanu PF had left were fools like him to protect their ill-gotten gains.

\r\n

Brig-Gen Nyikayaramba said the security forces were not against the formation of other political parties, but were concerned with the proven legitimacy of MDC-T, leadership change and the prospect of imprisonment till kingdom come.

\r\n

“If his party was a genuinely thuggish party like Zanu PF, we wouldn’t be involved. People have to understand that we have no mandate and as zanufied security chiefs, we have to protect our stolen sovereigns and prevent our stolen assets from being returned to the nation.

\r\n

“As minority security force thugs, we should be worried if we see the free world machinations. They have already announced that they want to help the nation to destroy tyrrany and dictatorship and restore justice and dignity, so we should be vigilant. This suggests that they want to civilise us, knowing full well that we have damaged Zimbabwe beyond repair” he said.

\r\n

Brig-Gen Nyikayaramba said President Mugabe must remain in power because replacing a leader in the middle of the struggle to retain ‘our’ stolen loot was not advisable.

\r\n

“President Mugabe will only leave office if he sees it fit or dies or we are in big trouble. So we must all put our heads in the sand and no one should be talking about his departure at the moment. He sacrificed this country on the altar of corruption. If he was someone else he would have stepped down but he knew that Zimbabweans wanted justice and would demand accountability for the genocide he has inflicted on the nation.

\r\n

“We will have to die with him to make sure we all go down together. We thugs are not going to sit back and watch, while the people of Zimbabwe take back what is rightfully theirs. That’s why, one day soon they will want to attack us if we do not leave now.”

\r\n

He said MDC-T sponsors, the people of Zimbabwe, should realise their party will ultimately achieve the desired goals because evil is always unsustainable and the people want justice.

\r\n

“The people have been clever enough to invest their money in this project because it’s viable. It’s almost 11 years now since the MDC-T was formed and they are now the majority in Parliament” said Brig-Gen Nyikayaramba.

\r\n

On Sunday, Mr Tsvangirai challenged service chiefs, saying: “If you want politics remove the uniform and we will show you what politics is. It is not guns. Stop intimidating people – convince Zimbabweans to vote for you.”

\r\n

Yesterday, the MDC-T repeated the challenge.

\r\n

Addressing delegates attending a forum called World Justice Forum in Barcelona, Spain, Mr Tsvangirai said some State institutions were failing to respect the inclusive Government.

\r\n

“Everyday, they (security chiefs) are dabbling in politics, even seeking to influence the date of the election and the conditions under which that election will be held.”When the Police Commissioner-General (Augustine Chihuri) and the Attorney-General (Johannes Tomana) state publicly that they support a particular political party in an inclusive government, as in our case, the rule of law becomes perverted and people lose confidence in the institutions they lead.”
