For two weeks, the Constitution Select Committee failed to reach a consensus over the method to be used when analysing data at district, provincial and national level.

After the matter was taken to the COPAC management committee this week, it was referred back to the co-chairpersons who then discussed the issue and reached an agreement.

Zanu PF COPAC Co-chairperson Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana said the completion of the thematic stage is going to need another two weeks before they move into the drafting stage.

“We have reached an agreement and we are resuming the data analysis. The impasse has now been resolved and we have budgeted that in two weeks time we would have completed,” said Mangwana.

Mangwana also revealed the names of the drafters whom the three parties have agreed on.

“The three parties agreed on three key drafters who are Justice Moses Chinhengo, Mr Brian Crossier and Mrs Priscilla Madzonga. Five more drafters were nominated by the parties,” added Mangwana.

Meanwhile, Mangwana dismissed allegations that Brigadier General Douglas Nyikayaramba was booted out of COPAC saying he was part of the constitution making process only as an advisor during the thematic stage and his contract ended on the 9th of June.
