Activist Archbishop Mufaro Stig Hove passed away in South Africa

Fearless and well known Zimbabwean activist Mufaro Stig Hove has passed away in South Africa on Thursday. Few could match his passion for Zimbabwe. May his soul rest in peace.\r\n

At the time of his death Rev. Hove was serving as the Branch Chairperson of the MDC-T South African Province Soshanguve Branch in Pretoria and was a fearless and tireless cadre in the fight for a new Zimbabwe.

Rev Mufaro was instrumental in the founding of this website, The Zimbabwe Mail together with Brighton Musonza before it was sold three years ago.

\r\n

He served in various organisations and capacities including with the Veterans Activists Association (VAA) and as Patron of the Revolutionary Youth Movement of Zimbabwe among others.

His last Facebook message to Brighton Musonza, hours before his passing:Is this the wall of the profile you use? You seem to have numerous profiles”.

In one of his Facebook message on May 27, Rev Hove said, “I was shocked (or perhaps not shocked) that ZANU-PF wants to prosecute a man for a Facebook posting. Ive written worse things in my 40 blogs (www.zimfinalpush.blogspot.com  and others.) I seriously challenge that I, Archbishop Mufaro Stig Hove, be prosecuted first before anyone else. Seriously!

\r\n

He was a former ZESA employee in Chinhoyi and as the leader of the Workers Union he fell victim to Zanu PF hatchet men and got sacked from his job and he fought many battles in the Zimbabwean courts in order to claim his terminal befefits but never got anywhere. He went to the courts and each time he was stopped in his tracks. Former ZESA CEO Engineer Mangwengwende tried his best to assist him but to no avail.

\r\n

He left for South Africa when he felt his life was now in danger.

\r\n

In South Africa, Mr Mufaro was everywhere, in every organisation fighting for the restoration a better Zimbabwe and he handed over signed petitions to former South Africa President Thabo Mbeki and the incumbent Jacob Zuma.

More details will be released as they become available.
