Responding to the statements by Prime Minister Tsvangirai that the public media is shallow, the Zimbabwe Development Party – (ZDP) says the statement is proof of the MDC-T leader’s shallowness and lack of knowledge on how the media operates.
The one man show ZDP President, Mr. Kisnot Mukwazhe, a former Central Intelligence Organisation operative said that political parties and members of the executive have no mandate to dictate to the fourth estate.
Addressing journalists in the capital, Mr. Mukwazhe said it is unfortunate that a man who aspires to be a leader of this country can make such statements.
Talking to State media, Kisnot said: “the statements by Tsvangirai are unfortunate as a man who claims to be a good leader can be caught offside. The media should be allowed to play its role and cannot be dictated to.”
Turning to the issue of elections, ZDP Secretary General, Reverend Everisto Chikanga who doubles up as Kisnot Mukwazhe’s sidekick and driver said unlike the MDC formations which are stalling progress due to fear of losing, his party is ready for the polls adding that the animosity in the inclusive government can only be ended through general elections.
“We are ready for the next elections and we have programmes to improve the lives of Zimbabweans,” said Chikanga.
The party also expressed its sentiments on the proposed reform of the security sector saying these are attempts by the MDC-T and its handlers to weaken Zimbabwe and effect illegal regime change.
Mr. Tsvangirai’s recent utterance has drawn criticism from various quarters with analysts saying the media should be allowed to play its watchdog role without any interference.
Zanu PF Political Analysts
Meanwhile Prime Minister and MDC-T president, Morgan Tsvangirai has been described by Zanu PF media and political analysts as not only shallow minded and reckless, but also a person who lacks an understanding of the role of the state media in defending what they called country’s sovereignty.
The party loyalists who doubles up as Media and political analysts lashed out at the Prime Minister for his Statement last week when he attacked the public media describing them as shallow.
The so called analysts said the MDC-T president had demonstrated that it is him who is shallow minded.
Zanu PF Youth activist and militia Caesar Zvayi said Tsvangirai should be reminded that the public media cannot be fooled by his opinion based on partisan reportage he gets from the private media which treats him with kid gloves.
Zanu PF Politiburo member who masquerades himself as political scientist, Professor Jonathan Moyo said Tsvangirai who claims to be a champion of democracy has exposed his hypocrisy by attacking the media for scrutinising the happenings within his party and criticising his ideological bankruptcy.
“It is not the first time that Tsvangirai has attracted media attention for showcasing his political illiteracy as he was once caught offside when he saluted the Germany flag,” said the unemployed Moyo.
“Observers feel the latest sentiments by Mr. Tsvangirai have confirmed that he requires careful handling as he lacks the basic understanding of the operations of the media,” Moyo said.
