Monomotapa United to sell franchise?
Premiership side, Monomotapa United have dismissed as pre-mature talk that the former champions have officially sold their franchise to prison side, Flame Lily, hinting the two sides have only signed a memorandum of understanding.\r\n
After some speculation on whether the former league champions have now officially taken up the name Flame Lily, Monomotapa United Chairman, Joseph Mukoki cleared the air, acknowledging that negotiations are underway but no franchise has as yet been sold.
“Yes, there has been talk but the position as we speak is Monomotapa is still Monomotapa. Yes we have an MOU with Flame Lily but they have not honoured their part of the bargain and so Monomotapa has not as yet been sold,” Mukoki said.
Word has it that Flame Lily has been asked to pay US$50 000 for the Monomotapa franchise to be paid in 6 months with a down payment of US$12 000 which the prison side is yet to pay.
The Monomotapa United management says the sale of the franchise is a strategic move.
