Ncube MDC attending SADC Troika meeting

THE smaller faction of the MDC led by Welshman Ncube has rubbished reports by the state owned broadcaster ZBC that they were boycotting the SADC Troika meeting in Livingstone, Zambia on Thursday.\r\n

ZBC claimed the MDC-N was boycotting the summit in protest over the inclusion of deposed party leader Arthur Mutambara. Spokesman Kurauone Chihwayi however told us MDC President Professor Welshman Ncube and the two negotiators Priscilla Misihairabwi -Mushonga and Moses Mzila Ndlovu would be attending the meeting in Zambia.

“It is clear that the invitation of Professor Welshman Ncube in his capacity as the President of the party and the negotiating team sends shivers down the spines of those that wish to subvert the results of our democratic congress. This is a confirmation that all the democratic forces in the region and the world acknowledge and recognise the verdict of our congress,” Chihwayi said.

“We would like to make it known to the world that we are strongly committed to the struggle for democracy in this country and would never boycott the events and processes that seek to save this country from decades of dictatorship. We are aware that it was the wish of Zanu PF that we boycott this event so that their violation of the GPA would not be made known to the world.

“We want to put it clear that we would in every opportunity fearlessly expose this retrogressive force as we fight for a just and a fair Zimbabwe. We therefore dismiss this ZBC lie with the contempt it deserves. It is unfortunate that this institution which is supposed to serve the public interest is now abused by Zanu PF to delay the inevitable change,” Chihwayi added. – Nehanda Radio
