Zimbabwe's ailing President returns home
HARARE – The ailing Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe returned home on Sunday from Singapore where he had gone for a medical check-up.
Presidential spokesperson George Charamba confirmed: “The President is back in the country. He arrived this morning (Sunday) at around 8:15 and his eyes are seeing very far.”
Last Thursday, President Mugabe flew out to the Asian country for routine medical check-ups following an eye operation early this year.
On his return from Singapore in January, President Mugabe scoffed at unconfirmed reports surrounding his deteriorating health.
The reports claimed he had been rushed to Malaysia for a prostate operation.
He told journalists the reports about his supposed ill-health were now common in the Western media each time he went on leave.
“Those are the lies they put across from year to year.
“Now it’s something you expect each time I go on leave and they also go on their campaigns,” President Mugabe was quoted as saying.
