It is not clear what he used to hang himself.
The owner of the house Ntogwa Mbati, a teacher at McConnell who is also the girl’s employer, allegedly told the police and neighbours that the man went berserk after his girl-friend refused to let him into the house. She said that after making death threats they ignored him but later called the police when she saw him climbing one of the trees in front of her house.
When the police arrived at the scene they found the man hanging from the tree.
School head Lebogang Sitilo confirmed the incident which left them in shock.
“I never visited the scene and no one gave me a formal report but I have since learnt that a stranger hanged in the school premises.”
Tutume Police Station Commander, Vusumusi Jorowe confirmed the suicide case and revealed that the man’s body has been repatriated to burial in Zimbabwe.
