Chavunduka said a construction vehicle had "cut out into traffic" and she had "blacked out" and "crashed into all sorts of things".
She was shocked when she first saw her black eye in a mirror.
"Good heavens, it is really bad, even make up won’t cover this," she said.
Originally from Zimbabwe, Chavunduka moved from the SABC to read the news at Highveld Stereo before opening a small furniture business in Sandton.
Yesterday a lonely Chavunduka had not contacted her parents in Zimbabwe nor her five siblings in England because they would not be able to help her, she said
She hopes to be discharged later this week.
