Sex with rapist nurse appears in UK court

Married Zimbabwean nurse Rhoda Elizabeth Makambaire who was arrested over claims she had a 4 month fling with a violent rapist in the United Kingdom appeared in court this week Monday.\r\n

Makambaire popularly known as Mai Sibanda (from the husband’s surname) is being charged with two counts of engaging in sex acts with a mentally-disordered person and two more of having full sex.

A spokesman for the Thames Valley Police said: “Rhoda Sibanda has been charged with two counts of non-penetrative sexual activity with a mentally-disordered person while being a care worker, contrary to Section 38 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.”

He said she also faced “two counts of penetrative sexual activity with a mentally-disordered person”. Makambaire-Sibanda, from Bracknell, was bailed to appear again at Maidenhead magistrates’ court on December 23, two days before Christmas.

Broadmoor, in Crowthorne, Berkshire is a top-security hospital that houses some of the most notorious killers and rapists in the UK. But between June and August this year Makambaire-Sibanda is said to have had several sex sessions with 29 year old brutal rapist Kelly Edney.

They allegedly romped on the mental hospital’s Epsom Ward – for patients who are deemed incurable or show no signs of remorse.

Edney was later moved from Broadmoor to top security Rampton Hospital. His room was sealed off while officers removed sheets and clothing for forensic checks.

The rapist, who also has convictions for arson, assault and hoax bomb calls, allegedly told cops he had full and oral sex with the nurse.

In August this year Nehanda Radio revealed how Makambaire-Sibanda was a prominent member of the ZAOGA (Foward in Faith) church based in Slough, in the UK. She is the lead singer in the Praise and Worship team.

She earned £30 000 a year working as a nurse in the dangerous and severe personality disorder unit. If convicted she now faces being struck off the nursing register.
