Valinhos wins US$60 000 on appeal to Fifa

Although jobless, Valinhos is back in his native land where he is rejoicing after getting a US$60 000 payment that he was owed from the time that he coached the Warriors.

The Brazilian, who spent just over two weeks at Free State before walking out due to alleged interference, has been paid his dues after Fifa deducted the money from the annual grant to Zifa after he won his petition.

The deduction of the money from the Zifa grant will plunge the home association into further financial difficulties with current coach Sunday Chidzambwa already complaining about non-payment of his salary since he took over last year.

Valinhos was fired by Zifa in November last year just a month before the expiry of his one-year contract after the Warriors dismally failed to qualify for Afcon and the World Cup.

The Brazilian only received his salary for the first six months of his stay which was paid in by the Tourism Authority.

An agreement was that Zifa would pay his salary for the remainder of his contract. However, they failed to do so, which prompted Valinhos into taking them to Fifa.
