Various local musicians will tonight converge at Private Lounge in the capital for a get-together party that will see them mixing and mingling with their fans between performances.
The party is meant to bring fans closer to their icons on a social platform that is different from normal shows. At most shows, musicians come specifically for performances and interaction with fans is limited to the performer-spectator relationship.
At tonight’s show musicians will party with their fans, perform a few songs and deliver a few speeches.
There will be an after-party slot at the event where Jah Prayzah will do a closing act.
Other musicians expected to grace the event include Alick Macheso, Leonard Zhakata, Peter Moyo, Dino Mudondo, Jean Masters and Kireni Zulu among others.
Organisers of the event invited fans to come and get “up close and personal” with their favourite musicians and have time to share lighter moments with the artistes off the stage.
“Usually musicians come on stage to perform and leave venues without mixing with fans. This party is meant to bridge that gap and give fans a time to mix and mingle with the musicians. There will be photo shoots, autographed CDs and regalia on offer to the fans,” noted the organisers in a statement.
“The musicians will be free to share experiences with their fans through short speeches and personal interactions. There will be a number of performances from the musicians but the main thrust of the event is to socialise. We have invited promoters, artistes, fans and media personnel to have fun together in this special party.
“Jah Prayzah will have a longer performance in the after-party that is also expected to bring all musicians at the event together on one stage for fun and dance.”
The organisers noted that the event would be the first in their plans to have the party as an annual event that is bigger and can spread to other towns and cities.
“We intend to make it an annual event. This is will be just a pilot project and that is why we have a few musicians.
“In the next instalments it will be a bigger party that brings together many musicians of various genres and their fans. We want them to party and have fun together.
“At this first event, people should also expect surprises because some big arts celebrities that are not on the list have promised to come and also share their experiences with fans.”
