John Nkomo Nominated Vice President

Harare, – National chairman John Nkomo was on Thursday nominated to become Vice President by former PF-Zapu members, the state owned Herald said on Friday

The paper, quoting sources, said the decision was made at the Zanu-PF’s Central Committee meeting held in Bulawayo on Thursday. The post was left vacant after the death of Vice President Joseph Msika in August.

It said Deputy Senate President Naison Khutshwekhaya Ndlovu, who had expressed interest in the post, was nominated to take over as party national chairman.

According to the 1987 Unity Accord, the two positions, as well as that of Home Affairs Minister, will be filled by cadres who belonged to PF-Zapu before the merger with Zanu-PF.
