THE African Development Bank (AfDB) will help Zimbabwe clear its US$601 million debt to the Abidjan-based lender.Mr Sibry Tapsoba, AfDB director and head of the bank’s mission that is in Harare to discuss the Zimbabwe’s debt with international financiers said that the lender will continue to assist the country.

“We will continue to assist the country to clear its arrears . . . but the level of assistance will be decided when we go back to Abidjan (Ivory Coast).

“The resources we will put will clear (Zimbabwe’s) AfDB arrears,” explained Mr Tapsoba.

Zimbabwe’s obligations with the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Paris Club are estimated at US$10,7 billion. – The Sunday Mail Online
