HARARE – Zimbabwe will be hosting an education conference and expo from the 16th to the 18th of September which is expected to draw over 300 delegates from across Africa.

The conference will discuss the harnessing of the latest technologies to ensure Africa’s role as a major economic player is assured.

\n

The inaugural Innovation and Opportunities Conference is expected to ensure Zimbabwe continues in its quest to leverage information communication technologies in the education sector.

\n

The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Lazarus Dokora, who was briefing journalists in the capital on the conference, says the role of information communication technologies remain focal in the development of the country’s education sector.

\n

“The education conference and expo supports the sustainable growth of quality education in Africa by harnessing the latest technologies and techniques ensure that Africa’s future role as a global economic player is assured,” he said.

\n

Dr Dokora noted that the launch of the presidential e-learning programme at Chogugudza Primary School in Domboshawa in 2012 was a clear demonstration of government’s commitment to bring on board e-learning software solutions to complementing the Schools Computerisation Programme, which was launched a decade ago.

\n

The conference will run under the theme, “Growing Socio-Economic Opportunities Through Education in the 21stCentury.”
