Bizarre blindfold sex case in UK court

London – A lesbian used a sex toy and blindfold to dupe a fellow student into thinking she was in bed with a man, a UK court heard on Tuesday.\r\niolgavel-2\r\n\r\nGayle Newland, 25, is accused of pretending to be a member of the opposite sex in a deception that lasted two years.\r\n\r\nThe ruse ended when – after a number of sex sessions – the student became suspicious and removed the blindfold Newland had given her.\r\n\r\nNewland, who is charged with sexual assault, invented the identity of a man called Kye Fortune to befriend the woman on Facebook.\r\n\r\nShe is then said to have used her real identity to encourage sexual encounters between Kye and the student.\r\n\r\nKye insisted the woman should wear a sleeping mask and not touch him during sex, Chester Crown Court heard.\r\n\r\nTo hide the fact that Kye was a woman Newland allegedly bandaged her chest and wore a woolly hat, saying it was to cover injuries.\r\n\r\nBut during a sex session at a hotel the student noticed Kye’s hair felt feminine and, on tearing off her blindfold, saw that it was Newland.\r\n\r\nThey both fled and later that day police were called after Newland apparently jumped from a bridge.\r\n\r\nThe alleged victim, who cannot be named, told police she felt physically sick afterward, adding: “I don’t go for women. That’s not my thing.”\r\nShe said she had fallen in love with Kye and they had built a beautiful relationship over two years.\r\n\r\nBut she added: “These two years have been a fabrication. Gayle pulled the wool over my eyes. I can’t understand why she decided to ruin my life.\r\n\r\n“If I hadn’t taken that mask off on that day it would probably still be going on.”\r\nCross-examined by Nigel Power she said she had had more than 10 sexual partners and had sent unsolicited sexual photographs to Kye.\r\n\r\nThe QC suggested her version of events was daft and questioned whether she knew all along what Newland was up to. The woman replied that she had been naive and needy but had wholeheartedly believed Kye was who he claimed to be.\r\n\r\nThe student said she was befriended by Kye while at the University of Chester in 2011, telling police his Facebook profile was utterly convincing, with multiple friends and photographs showing a “half-Filipino, half-Latino” man.\r\n\r\nKye told her he could not meet up due to his extreme anxiety and his need for constant treatment for a tumour that doctors discovered following a road accident.\r\n\r\nInstead they spoke on the telephone for hours, and she told police she fell in love, with the suggestion of an engagement. She also became close to fellow student Newland, who claimed to be Kye’s lifelong friend.\r\n\r\nIf the alleged victim, who said she had few friends at university, fell out with either Newland or Kye the other would try to persuade her to give it another chance.\r\n\r\nAfter repeated requests from the woman, Newland, masquerading as Kye, agreed to meet her in a room at the Dene Hotel in Chester in February 2013. He told her he would wait in the bathroom while she put on the blindfold.\r\n\r\nShe complied and the pair had sex on a bed sprinkled with rose petals and Hello Kitty bears. They later used a Travelodge before starting on weekly sex sessions at her flat in the city, the woman said.\r\n\r\nKye attributed his slender frame to his illness and took elaborate precautions to avoid being seen by his lover, the jury heard.\r\n\r\nIn June 2013 they were having sex on the sofa when the woman put her hand behind Kye’s neck to discover his hair felt “like a Barbie doll’s”.\r\n\r\nShe pulled off her blindfold “and Gayle was standing there”, she told police. “I just couldn’t believe it. She said it is not what you think.” The woman described running out of the house with Newland chasing after her saying she could explain.\r\n\r\nBefore they met, she had asked about Kye’s effeminate voice over the phone, she told police. He would say: “It’s because I’m Asian, we do have high voices.”\r\nShe said Newland admitted her voice sounded similar to Kye’s, but only because they came from the same area.\r\n\r\nNewland denies five counts of sexual assault.\r\n\r\nThe trial continues.\r\nDaily Mail
