Popular interdenominational Christian entertainment group Zimpraise Choir looks set to miss out on the biggest chance of their career after failing to secure visas to enter the United States.

One of the choir frontmen, Tendai Kevin Zhou, confirmed that the choir will not be able to make it this year for the TD Jakes Megafest Conference.

“As the Zimpraise Global Organisation we would like to thank Bishop TD Jakes and his team for tirelessly trying their best to speed up administrative processes, furthermore for extending such an invitation to us. It is with regret that we advise you that Zimpraise Choir will not be able to make it this year for the Megafest,” he said.

Some close sources revealed that a few choir members had no proper travel documents and could not submit their papers on time.

Bishop Jakes, who was impressed by their performance last year in London, invited the choir to grace his annual Megafest conference that will take place this weekend. Bishop Jakes said that he had been praying to the Lord for something exciting and crazy to do for Megafest and that he had decided to invite them.

Group chief executive officer Joseph Madziyire, who is in Dallas, said the choir would still travel to the States albeit not for this conference.

“We didn’t fail, we just did not have some documents in time that are needed for particular types of festivals. We have moved the dates. The same team is going and we have been given few dates options that we are discussing, that is why Bishop TD Jakes insisted I come even without the team. I am in Dallas right now,” said Madziyire.

He said preparations for the journey are underway and Bishop TD Jakes is eager to see the group performing.

Madziyire said they are already working on their new project scheduled for October in Harare.

“We are working on our gospel and music festival which is pencilled to take place in Harare from October 8-10 at Rainbow Towers. We will shed more light on the details soon,” he said.

The award winning group has been in existence for the past decade under the watchful eye of award winning producer Joseph Madziyire, who is also the founder and CEO.
