Harare — The start of the trial in which Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Deputy Minister Thamsanqa Mahlangu is accused of stealing a cellphone from war veterans leader Joseph Chinotimba has been postponed to August 26 this year to give the State time to furnish the defence with relevant documentation.
Mr Charles Kwaramba of Mbidzo Muchadehama and Makoni, representing Mahlangu, had told the court that he was yet to get the State papers.
It is the State’s case that Mahlangu and Chadamoyo were among attendants at the launch of the National Vision 2040 at Rainbow Towers Hotel on July 17 this year together with two other women and shared a table with Chinotimba.
It is alleged that Joseph Chinotimba went to the VIP lounge for lunch and left his Nokia 2310 with a Net One line on the table.
It is further alleged that the four, upon realising that Chinotimba had left his mobile phone, connived to steal it and disappeared from the venue.
