A Harlington and Friends side will play against the senior national team.

Shereni spent three seasons at French League 1 football side Guingamp playing alongside Koscielny.

\n

They both left Guingamp at the same time in 2007 when Shereni joined Nantes, while Koscielny headed to Tours Football Club.

Most of the players expected to feature for Harlington and Friends are from Europe, but South African legend Lucas Radebe, Peter Ndlovu, Costa Nhamoinesu and Shereni’s best friend Benjani Mwaruwari will take part.

\n

“I spoke to Koscielny and he expressed great interest to be available,” Shereni told NewsDay Sport yesterday.

“He was my junior at Guingamp. He is, however, yet to give me final confirmation on his availability because he is still looking at the France national team schedule as they have international friendlies around that time. There is going to be a lot of entertainment on the day as we celebrate special football moments I shared with many people. I talked to Zifa and we are finalising everything for the day.”

Shereni played for CAPS United, Air Zimbabwe Jets and later Dynamos where he was part of the squad that reached the Caf Champions League final in 1998.

\n

He made his Warriors debut that year in an international friendly match against Zambia and spent 10 years with the national team.

“I think I gave my all in the 10 years I played for Zimbabwe and I am very happy. We had very good moments with the national team although there were some bad ones when we lost important matches. Qualifying for the 2004 Afcon finals was awesome. Sadly, we never qualified for the World Cup.”
