“We want you to secure employment with Lafarge,” she said. “I will engage them to ensure that you are given first priority.”

Cde Gumbo promised to work hard to bring development to Harare East.

Addressing the same rally, Cde Masimirembwa said the large turnout at Cde Gumbo’s rally demonstrated the massive support she has ahead of the by-election next month.

“We have said as the province that we are the work horse of the party,” said Cde Masimirembwa while tearing into the other candidate for party in the constituency Cde Terrance Mukupe.

Cde Mukupe won by the election in the Harare East, was the party wrote for withdrawal of his candidature the Nomination Court in favour of Cde Gumbo.

Cde Mukupe approached the High Court which ruled that the Nomination Court had no basis to reject his papers after they had been accepted.

“We know what is on the ground,” said Cde Masimirembwa. “We have said Terrance Mukupe has never been in the party. No one knows about him.”

Cde Masimirembwa also took the opportunity to advise Cde Mukupe to be a party member who should grow in the party and meet the criteria to contest in an election.

“He must withdraw from this present contest because as you can see (Cde) Mavis Gumbo has such massive following in Harare East constituency and there can be no doubt she is the right candidate for the party,” he said.
