Botswana-based musician Doctor Tawanda — real name Tawanda Kasaira — is heading to Zimbabwe for two massive gigs at in Harare over the weekend. He is set to share the stage with Suluman Chimbetu at Mushandirapamwe Hotel tomorrow and the same combination goes to Jongwe Corner on Sunday. The musician is one of the best producers in Botswana and his music is popular in that country and also in Zimbabwe.

Dr Tawanda produced albums for musicians such as Slizer, Charma Gal and Vee of the “Taku Taku” fame. He released songs that are fast becoming anthems in most public places. Whenever there is a social gathering people are requesting one of his songs “Unconquerable” which was done by Dr Tawanda who also has hits “Ambuye” and “Hosana” among others.

The musician-cum-producer introduced himself to the local market with remix of sungura maetsro Alick Macheso and he was successful. The current tour was planned after Dr Tawanda and Chimbetu stages two successful shows in Botswana two weeks ago.

Speaking from his base yesterday Dr Tawanda said they were looking forward to great shows.

“The response here in Botswana inspired us to have some shows in Zimbabwe together. We are happy that already people are calling and texting showing their interest to come to the gigs,” said Dr Tawanda.

He said they would sample new songs on the two shows.

“We have new songs that are always ready and we will sample them to fans,” he said.

On the other hand Chimbetu camp promised a great show.

His publicist Joe Nyamungoma said they will introduce some new concept at the show.

“Dr Tawanda is a great musician and sharing stage with him is a great honour. Such gigs need us to prepare and for those shows we are preparing something new,” said Nyamungoma.

He said they will start their busy weekend on Friday when they perform in Bulawayo before coming back to the capital for the gigs they will share stage with the music Doctor.
