LIVE UPDATE: President Addresses SA-ZIM business forum

President Mugabe and President Jacob Zuma will in the next hour address the South Africa – Zimbabwe Business forum in Tshwane. Delegates have already filled the venue at the Sheraton Pretoria in anticipation of the addresses, which form part of President Mugabe’s programme during his historic State visit to South Africa.

South Africa Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies, his Zimbabwean counterpart Minister Mike Bimha and business representatives from the two countries will also address the forum.

\n

There will be parallel workshops bringing together representatives of ZINARA, Schweppes, Tanganda, Dairiboard, Paramount Garments, The Chamber of Mines, The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce, Group 5, The City of Harare, The Bankers Association of Zimbabwe, Avenues Clinic and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe among others, with the South African industry colleagues.

After the business forum, President Mugabe is expected to visit the Hector Pietersen Memorial in SOWETO where he will pay his respects to those killed by apartheid South Africa security forces in the 1976 Sharpeville massacre.

\n

Yesterday President Mugabe also visited Freedom park, where the remains of those who fell in various wars from 1914 through to South African liberation struggle are interred.

Late on Wednesday, the Sadc and AU Chair held closed door talks with South Africa’s Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, after which President Zuma hosted a banquet for him
