HARARE – The Zimbabwe Sevens rugby team technical department has named a 15-men provisional squad that will be part of a Cheetahs training camp to be held in South Africa.

15 players will battle for a place in the final 12-member squad that will travel to the Hong Hong Sevens tournament slated for the end of this month.

Experienced campaigners Fortune Chipendu, Tafadzwa Chitokwindo, Graham Kaulback, Stephen Hunduza, Kilvan Magunje and Njabulo Ndlovu are part of the training squad which is scheduled to leave for Stellenbosch Academy in South Africa on Monday.

Rian O’neil, who made his Sables debut at last year’s World Cup qualifiers in Madagascar has also been included in the Cheetahs squad which will be vying to gain core status in Hong Kong.

Kudakwashe Chiwanza, Takudzwa Francisco, Shane Makombe, Mukhululi Ndlela, Leniance Tambwera, Boyd Rouse, Biselele Tshamala and Tapiwa Tsomonda will also be part of a training camp where three players will be dropped before the team travels from South Africa to Hong Kong on the 22nd of this month.

In Hong Hong, Zimbabwe will clash with Spain, Guyana and Tonga in Pool B of a crucial event which will determine whether Zimbabwe’s Sevens rugby team will finally become a core member on the International Rugby Board circuit.
