IMF to provide targeted technical help to Zimbabwe

In a statement, the IMF said it would help with tax policy and administration, payments systems, banking supervision and central banking governance.

"The Executive Board will review this decision at the time of the next review of Zimbabwe’s overdue financial obligations to the Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility-Exogenous Shock Facility (PRGF-ESF) Trust," the fund said.

Zimbabwe has been in continuous arrears to the IMF since February 2001 and now owes the fund about $133 million.
