The First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe is today expected to attend her inaugural Zanu-PF Politburo meeting since she was appointed the party’s secretary for Women Affairs at the 6th National People’s Congress in December. The First Lady did not have the opportunity to attend two Politburo meetings that were held since the December Congress because she was recovering from a minor operation in the Far East.

She returned home on Sunday and declared to thousands of Zanu-PF supporters who welcomed her at Harare International Airport that she was now fit.

Zanu-PF secretary for Administration Cde Ignatius Chombo said in a statement that the meeting will start at 10am.

“ZANU-PF secretary for Administration Cde Ignatius Chombo is inviting all Politburo members to attend a Politburo meeting at the party headquarters,” he said

Some of the issues expected to come for debate may include the fate of the party’s former secretary for Administration Cde Dydmus Mutasa in the wake of his continued utterances denigrating the party and its leadership.

President Mugabe told members in the previous Politburo meeting that party cadres should conduct themselves within the confines of the party constitution and that the party was superior to any individual.

This came after Cde Mutasa threatened to take Zanu-PF to the High Court challenging the outcome of the December National People’s Congress.
