Mega deal sealed

LONDON. — The English Premier League have agreed a new three-year TV deal with Sky and BT Sport worth £5,136 billion — which means that each game will cost a staggering £10 million. The new agreement, which starts at the end of next soccer season, is worth 70 percent more than the last deal. Sky will show 126 live matches — including 10 in a new Friday night slot — with BT showing 42 games. “It is an endorsement of what the Barclays English Premier League delivers that these broadcast partnerships have been extended and enhanced,” said Richard Scudamore, chief executive of the League.

“Premier League clubs deliver competitive and compelling football to fans in stadiums and on television, driving interest levels to new heights,” added Scudamore, right.

“Last season saw record levels of attendance with the highest top-flight crowds since 1949-50, as well as increased viewing figures across all our UK rights holders.” — The Daily Express.
