PM Tsvangirai pays tribute to ILO

HARARE – Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, has paid tribute to the International Labour Organization, ILO, for being resolute in fighting forced labour, child labour and all forms of slavery.

Mr Tsvangirai was officiating at the 90th anniversary celebrations of the International Labour Organisation in Harare.

He said the organization has also done well in campaigning for freedom of association and equality at work.

Mr. Tsvangirai said the inclusive government is committed to working with the ILO, labour organizations and the business community to encourage good working relations and create a conducive environment for business so as to promote productivity in industry.

Speaking at the same function, the United Nations Resident Coordinator, Mr Agostinho Zacharias said the UN is repositioning itself to be more vigilant and be able to provide the necessary support required in Zimbabwe.

Other speakers among them ILO Office Director, Mr Alphonse Tabi-abodo, Labour and Social Services Minister, Ms Paurina Mpariwa and ZCTU President, Mr Lovemore Matombo praised the International Labour Organization for its tireless efforts in fighting for the rights of workers.
