Ajax Cape Town striker, Tendai Ndoro has found himself making headlines again, this time for nothing related to football as he is facing allegations of domestic abuse filed by his wife of six months, Thando.

The Zimbabwean international has been the centre of controversy after his club were relegated from the PSL after they were docked points for unlawfully fielding him in three league fixtures last season.

Now the 30-year-old has been embroiled in another squabble and has reportedly spent the weekend in jail after Thando filed charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

According to Sowetan Live, Ndoro was arrested for allegedly strangling and throwing the family TV in the direction of his wife last week.

“He started changing around March this year. He would always get calls from girls here and there, but it’s nothing I took seriously,” Thando is quoted by the publication.

“He wanted the car keys, and I didn’t give him because I was supposed to drop my son off at school. He pinned me on the bed and strangled me while he searched for the keys. He then picked up a TV and threw it at me but I managed to dodge it, and it hit the wall.”

Thando says she called the police, who advised her to “talk things through” with her husband and, after a family meeting where the striker again lost his temper, she went to the Boksburg police station to open a case of domestic violence.

Ndoro was arrested on Saturday and spent the weekend in jail, before appearing in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where he was granted R1 000 bail.

He is set to make another court appearance at the end of this month.
