The event, established last year, is the brain child of Mema Arts Zimbabwe and Kaisa Dance Ensemble, led by Bruce Ncube and Derrick Tembo respectively.

Ncube told Southern Eye Life & Style that the concert seeks to bridge a gap through bringing local artists to Njube.

“The music show is aimed at giving musicians a chance to interact with a crowd they rarely meet in the city, while also allowing music lovers a chance to watch their favourite musicians live within the proximity of their residences without worrying about transport and falling victim to thugs as they make their way back home from town,” he said

Ncube said their aim was to make the event a family show and they were using the universal language of music to bring people together.

“Art, especially music, has a wide affinity among people. It has no colour, creed, societal status and tribe, but is enjoyed across the world,” he said.

Ncube said in order to accommodate as many fans as possible, they would not charge entrance fees.

“We are not aiming at making a profit from the event, but rather, to create a concert that can create memories for the spectators and new audiences for the musicians,” he said.
