With His power at display, God freed the children of Israel from Egyptian bondage and led them through the wilderness to the Promised Land. The gods were totally defeated.
God had told Moses that Pharaoh was not going to easily release Israel from slavery for occasion of God to show His splendour and majesty.

Exodus 3:19-20 record: “[19] And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand. [20] And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.”

Plagues hit Egypt, sparing the dwelling of Israel (Goshen). Word went out to the whole world including Canaan that the God of Israel was a great God and no one could and can stand against Him.

The deliverance of Israel from Egypt is a shadow or type of believers’ salvation. The devil was totally defeated by the sufferings of Christ, His death, burial, resurrection and ascension.

Word of satan’s defeat went out throughout the evil world. Apostle Paul put it this way in Colossians 2:15, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

So, wherever, the name of Jesus is placed, the evil world scurries for cover and kneels in obeisance. Such is the authority of born-again believers in Christ.

Philippians 2:9-10 declares: “[9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: [10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;” We therefore don’t live in fear but in victory.

The devil’s defeat was so pronounced. Pharaoh tried to pursue Israel and he perished with all his best and specially-equipped army.

Exodus 14:28 records: “And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.”

This is the picture of what happens when we become believers. The devil’s hold on us is stripped. We move from darkness to light, from death to life at the confession of the Lordship of Jesus.

Colossians 1:13, Amplified, states: “[The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.”

Should demons pursue us, we have the power to cast them out. Speaking to His disciples and to us, Jesus says in Matthew 10:8: “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”

As born again believers, our salvation/deliverance came with all things godly; health, physical and spiritual wellbeing that is prosperity.

In the shadow, Exodus 3:21-22 reads: “[21] And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty: [22] But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.”

Our salvation came and comes with all things we require. Apostle Peter reveals in 2 Peter 1:2-3: “[2] Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, [3] According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” We were freed from bondage to liberty, not to pain, agony and suffering.

God makes it so clear that all He did was to His glory. It’s by grace and not works. He said to Israel in Exodus 14:13-14: “[13] And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. [14] The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

This is the finished/accomplished works of Jesus Christ. He initiated it and finished it. Our journey doesn’t start in Egypt with a stopover or lay-by in the wilderness. At salvation we’re placed in the Promised Land. The blood of Jesus washed away our sins, past, present and future. We don’t suffer generational curses. God fought and won for us.

We stand still and see or behold and partake of the salvation of the Lord. This is the Gospel of Christ, the Grace of God, the Good News of Jesus Christ or the Glad Tidings of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Grace and peace be multiplied to you through knowledge.
