Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s party says Bennett is expected to be freed later on Wednesday or on Thursday.
Tsvangirai has appointed Bennett deputy agriculture minister in the month-old unity government.
The Supreme Court, in an appeal hearing in Harare on Wednesday, ruled State prosecutors have no grounds to oppose a previous High Court ruling ordering the release of Bennett.
He is a former lawmaker whose coffee farm was seized under President Robert Mugabe’s land reform programme.
Bennett denies the charges linked to long-discredited allegations that Tsvangirai’s party plotted Mugabe’s violent overthrow. – AP
