Extra Kwazvose here to stay

There is so much debate surrounding the new musical outfit Extra Kwazvose whether or not they are here to stay but judging from their maiden performance at Jazz 105 on Friday night, it appears the group’s longevity in the game is certain for as long as they remain together.However, the challenge is are the founding members – Jonasi Kasamba, Obert Gomba, Noel Nyazanda and Francis Dhaka -prepared to remain level-headed since they do not have a leader at the moment?

In face of adversity, not many people can stand the heat but for now let’s just say Extra Kwazvose is in it  for good.

There is no denying the group has covered considerable  ground with their debut album “Ndizvo Zviripo”, a  self-explanatory piece of music in which the group assures fans that they should accept what they have to offer.

Yes, the music is not different from any of the sungura songs you have heard before and the dances are also good.
The fact that they drew scores of music lovers some of them ardent followers of sungura music says a lot about the group’s act.

They learnt from the best and they know how to deliver their best in song and dance.
Many of their fans believe if you want to enjoy Extra Kwazvose’s music you don’t have to compare them to any other groups since  they are not competing with anyone, they are their own masters.

It was not surprising to see scores of fans from diverse backgrounds attending the gig which was fully of high-energy performances and serious partying.

\r\n

From start to finish, the group displayed their  determination to excel in the genre which is popular in Zimbabwe although they still need to improve on the vocals.

\r\n

In an interview backstage, Dhaka who doubles as choreographer and lead vocalist, said the group was prepared to go that extra mile to become one of the best groups in sungura.

\r\n

“The group is made up of different talents  and one thing that fans need to understand is that we are not competing against anyone.
“Our biggest wish is the support of those who love music. So far it has been good because we have been getting support from different people,” he said.

\r\n

Dhaka hinted that their first album was well received and that fans should expect better things on their upcoming album.
“We have been working tirelessly on and off the stage because we don’t want to let down those who have believed in us from the beginning,” he said.

\r\n

Kasamba also reiterated that Extra Kwa-zvose was an alternative to the usual groups that had been dominating the music scene for long.
