Mashakada's widow releases album
The late musician, Cephas Mashakada’s legacy is set to continue following the release of a six track album entitled Shungu Dzangu by his group, the Sounds of the Muddy Face.\r\n
The album features three songs penned by the late Mashakada.
His widow Eunice Mashakada features on three songs.
Deputy Director in the Ministry of Media, Information and Publicity, Mr Solomon Tavengerwei who was representing musicians patron, Cde Webster Shamu, said it is encouraging to note that Cephas Mashakada will not be forgotten as those he left behind are working hard to ensure the fans are not starved of his music.
Eunice said she ventured into music to fulfil the wish of her late husband.
Eunice is the lead vocalist on the track Mira Panzvimbo and is a backing vocalist on Jobo and Famba Naro Vhangeri.
The other tracks are Hupenyu Wangu, Shungu Dzangu and Edina.
Fellow musician, Somandla Ndebele who attended the album launch, urged fellow musicians to groom their spouses and children who are keen to venture into music.
Musicians such as Suluman Chimbetu, Tryson Chimbetu, Peter Moyo, Morgan and Tendai Dembo, Ndux Junior and Biggie Tembo Junior, among others, have kept the legacies of their fathers alive. ‘
However, spouses are yet to make an impression in reviving the music of their departed husbands.
