UK minister to hold Zimbabwe talks

London – Britain's government says Africa minister Mark Malloch Brown is travelling to South Africa for talks on the crisis in Zimbabwe.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s spokesperson Michael Ellam said on Tuesday that Malloch Brown will discuss ways to halt a cholera epidemic gripping the country.

Zimbabwe’s health care system and economy have collapsed.

Brown says Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe can no longer protect people there and that the international community must support the population’s desire for a change in government.

Mugabe accuses Britain of attempting to incite an invasion of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is a former British colony.

Malloch Brown will travel to the region on Thursday. – AP
